LISTING OF THE WEEK July 29, 2025
Location: Friant, California
Price: $5.77 million
Just outside of Fresno, California, this Santa Fe-style compound offers a wealth of amenities, including a helipad, a 14-vehicle underground garage, and an expansive sports court for tennis, pickleball and basketball.
“Everything is custom,” said listing agent Sarah Hedrick, of Realty Concepts. “Everything is Southwestern through and through. It’s tastefully done, very authentic.”
“There are views every way you look—it’s panoramic,” she said. “The house is set up on a hill. You can see the San Joaquin Mountains, Millerton Dam and some of the San Joaquin River.”

“There is lots of outdoor lighting, and you can see the city lights at night,” she said. “The whole property is fenced, with an automatic gate.”
The owners, Dr. William Schiff and his wife, Patti, discovered the rural property while road-tripping in the early 1990s, but they couldn’t afford to buy it, Schiff wrote in an owner’s statement that accompanied the listing. They ended up swapping homes with the owners, with the Schiffs throwing in an extra $100,000.
After realizing that they needed to build from scratch, the Schiffs donated the original two-story wood house to the local fire department and SWAT team for training exercises, Schiff said. While planning and building their new dream home, which was completed in 1997 after four years, they lived in a tiny guesthouse on the property with their cats and dogs.
The kitchen features travertine counters, two pantries, dual copper sinks and appliances by Wolf and Sub-Zero, according to the listing. The living room boasts a gas fireplace, custom cabinetry and double sliders that open to the resort-style pool. The primary bedroom suite has a gas fireplace, a jetted tub, a sauna-steam shower and cedar-lined closets.
The owners use one of the bedrooms as a media room, with a drop-down screen, Hedrick said.
Stats
The 6,362-square-foot home has six bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one partial bathroom. It sits on a 6.44-acre lot.

Amenities include a resort-style pool and separate hot tub, five fireplaces, two detached guesthouses, a helipad, a 1,600-bottle wine cellar with a tasting area, an elevator, a 3,000-square-foot garage that holds up to 14 vehicles with additional overhead parking, a patio with a barbecue, tennis, pickleball, basketball, an outdoor fireplace, a putting green and an observation deck.

Secured by reinforced fencing, the estate also features solar power, generators and a 5,000-gallon water tank.
Neighborhood Notes

It’s about 10 minutes from the house to the main hub of Fresno and 25 minutes to the airport, Hedrick said. It’s also about 10 minutes to Lake Millerton, which has “lots of boating, jet skiing and hiking,” she said.
